Section 54 (4) gives compensation for the compulsory slaughter of infected animals which have been bred in the Colony,
Section 56 provides that animals brought to the Colony to be slaughtered for food shall not be kept in auy Government Depôt for a longer period than twenty- one days, and that if condemned by the Colonial Veterinary Surgeon as unfit for food, they shall be removed forthwith.
Section 75 (6) authorizes the Governor to cancel the lease of a stall in a Government market if the lessee has been convicted of a breach of the Bye-laws for the regulation and sanitary maintenance of markets.
Section 82 makes the procedure for dealing with unwholesome food in markets and public places the same as with such food in shops and private premises (cf. s. 83). The destruction of unwholesome food may now be ordered by the President instead of by the Board, ou the recommendation of the Medical Officer of Health or of the Colonial Veterinary Surgeon.

Section 88.---Public vehicles may not be knowingly used for the conveyance persons suffering from an infectious disease; if any such vehicle is so used, power is given to detain it until it has been satisfactorily disinfected.
Section 89.-The Board may recover the cost of the disinfection of infected premises, and may (shall in certain cases) give compensation for articles destroyed in such process.

Section 100,--Blue bricks may be used only in the uppermost storey of a build- ing instead of in the two uppermost storeys,

Walls more than 40 feet in length clear of a cross wall shall be increased 44 inches in thickness beyond the above scale.
Ssction 102 (1).--No wall shall exceed 60 feet in length clear of a cross wall without the consent of the Building Authority (with the exception of boundary walls); the limit under the present law is 35 feet.
(2).—A wall may not exceed 76 feet in height without the approval of the Building Authority; the present law says 80 feet but in that case the height of the wall is ineasured from the top of the footings whereas it is now proposed to mea- sure it from the level of the adjacent foot-path or street. [cf. also s. 188 (5).]
(3) requires tie-rods for all external walls exceeding 30 feet in length, clear of a cross wall,
Section 107 requires the side wall of a corner building having a shop front to be returned for a distance of nine inches in buildings of not more than one storey, whereas the present law requires only six inches.
Section 108.---Lath-and-plaster and other hollow walls are prohibited outside the European Reservation and the Hill District except by permission of the Building Authority.
Section 109,--New walls are required to have suitable bonding.
Section 112 requires the renewal of the impervious covering to ground surfaces, when such has perished.
Section 118-The level of the ground floor of every new building must be at least six inches higher than the level of the ground outside such building.
Section 116.-The ground storey of every new building shall be at least twelve feet high and every upper storey shall be at least eleven feet high; coolie quarters, bath-room, kitchens and latrines need only be nine feet high. The present law re- quires a height of at least nine feet in all cases.
Section 117.--Boarded floors in a ground storey of a new building shall be at least two and a half feet (average) above the ground level, and ventilating openings in the walls shall be protected by gratings for the exclusion of rats.
Section 119.--All wooden floors hereafter constructed shall be made reasonably water-tight.
Section 120.---The floors of new buildings outside the European Reservation and Hill District shall have cement skirtings twelve inches high.
Section 121-All staircases hereafter constructed shall have a tread of at least eight inches and a rise of not more than eight and a half inches
per step. Section 122.-New ceilings are prohibited outside the European Reservation and Hill District, except by permission of the Building Authority.
Section 123.-Corbels shall be set in cement mortar.
Section 132 requires the floors of verandahs and balconies to be supplied with gutters and downpipes.
Section 136.--No balcony shall hereafter be projected from any building which exceeds 1 times in height, the width of the street on which it fronts.
Section 139 contains a new prohibition as to the enclosure of verandahs or balconies by blinds at night.
Section 140-Adequate kitchen accommodation shall be provided in all domestic buildings. The internal surface of the walls of all such kitchens shall be rendered in cement mortar to a height of four feet from the floor.
Section 141.-The kitchens of tenement honses hereafter crected shall only extend across half the width of the house, except in the case of corner houses.
Section 143.---Hoods for charcoal fires shall be of sheet metal-the alternative of a lath-and-plaster hood having been deleted.
